| With 22 miles of shoreline, there's much to do at Lopez Lake: fishing, camping, boating, water skiing, sailing, picnicking, hiking, canoeing, and birdwatching. Winter days are mostly clear and very pleasant, perfect for fishing, hiking, and just relaxing between day trips around the Central Coast.

| Created by the construction of the Salinas Dam in 1941, the lake was originally designed to furnish water to Camp San Luis Obispo. Today it is a major source of drinking water for the City of San Luis Obispo.
